I have been unable to edit or add new resources to the Enterprise Resource
pool [within Project Professional 2002] for several months now.
Just recently, I added all of a manager's employees into Project Web Access,
and then remembered that I needed to add them to the Enterprise Resources
Pool as well (so when the manager is creating a project plan, he can build a
team from the Enterprise Resource Pool and not use local resources).
However, when I first tried to to add them to the Enterprise Resources Pool,
I was unable to add them as new resources because of the below message. hen
"gaba53 @ hotmail.com" on this Microsoft discussion board told me about the
ability to Import Resources. So, now I at least have their names in the
Enterprise Resources pool, but nothing else. I am unable to update any of the
other fields without getting the error message.
Did I mess up by adding them to PWA first? Do you know how I might be able
to fix this?
When I try to add new users or update current users in the Enterprise
Resources Pool: In Microsoft Project Professional 2002, I check out any
existing Enterprise Resources that need changes/updates, and I add new
Enterprise Resources. After adding detail for the new ones, I double-click on
each line and fill in their e-mail address (as per Outlook) and Windows
account (I.e. SERVICES\Username). I even verify the Windows Account format by
clicking on the Windows Account button and accepting what the Outlook says is
correct. The Workgroup says "Default".
However, once I'm finished making corrections or adding new users and I try
to save the changes, a "Validate Enterprise Resources" screen pops up and I
see a "Name or Windows Account error" on every resource line that has been
changed or added.
Microsoft Project Professional 2002 will not let me save the changes. I can
only cancel the pop-up screen. However, if I click OK to try and save the
changes, I get a Microsoft Project pop-up window that says: "This value is
not valid in this situation. Check the field to see if it requires text, a
date, or a number, and that you typed the information correctly."
Recently, I was able to use these instructions
(http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/ConvertUsertoResource.htm)
to add the new resource names (only) to the Enterprise Resource pool.
However, when I try to edit and check-in the updates for the new resources
(Steps 12-13 of those instructions), I get the same "Validate Enterprise
Resources" pop-up screen and "Name or Windows Account error" on every
resource line that has been changed.
Do you know how I might be able to fix this?
