Project 07, want to see gantt on open

Hi,

When I open an MS Project document, in the Gantt view, I see the work
breakdown structure to the left but over on the right I do not see the gantt
- I see several months of nothingness while the actual gantt is 'hiding' off
to the right.

I can scroll over to see the gantt just fine, but I would like the project
to open with the left end (starting point) of the gantt in plain sight.

The project start date is set to just a few days ago, and the first task is
actually a milestone task and it correctly shows the task start date as the
project start date.

Is there a way to setup Project so that I can see the same gantt view as
when I saved/closed the file the last time?

Thanks!

Hi Bg,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Well.... Project should open a project with the same view as it was closed.
I tried a variety of changes to a trial project, and it opened as I left it
each time. Is this a project started in an earlier version of Project?
Have you tried a new trial project to see if that is the same? Does it
happen with other projects?

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Mike,

Funny you should mention 'previous version'. Because I work in a corporate
environment, and therefore it may be some time before others have the latest
version, I have Project 2007 setup to save all files in the previous version.

I just attempted to save a project in '07 format and re-open it, and it did
still behaves the same.

Was that a brand new project you just created in 2007? If so, I can only
recommend you try the diagnostics in the Help menu, and/or a re-install of
Project.
