Project 2002 cannot connect to Project Server 2003

Dilip

My current Setup
Project 2003 Server installed on a win2003 server, server named testproj

Client PC
XP with project 2002 professional

Both server and client are on the same network segment.

When I connect from the client PC using a browser,
http://testproj/projectserver works, I am able to log is as "xyz" user and
also able to see all my pending tasks. I can update my tasks. Everything is
fine there.

But If I use project professional 2002 to connect to the project server, I
can see the user name in the dialog box, it allows me to type the password,
but when I click ok, it says "Cannot connect. Microsoft Project was unable to
establish a connection with the selected Microsoft Project Server. This could
be caused by a loss of network connectivity, invalid username or password,
lack of an enterprise global template, problems with the Microsoft Project
Server or database, or your Microsoft Project Server may not have enterprise
featues enabled."

Well there is not network issue, user/pass are correct, enterprise featues
are also enabled. What must be the problem? Any help would be very much
appreciated.

Thanks
Dilip

PS: The testproj server was created this way. Brand new win2003 and sp1 was
installed, sql server 2000 with sp3 installed, I took a working backup of a
production projectserver database from some other server and restored it here
on the testproj, recreated the 2 project server required accounts in sql ent
mgr, Installed project server and told it to connect to the sql server on
this box itself.

Dilip -

Log into PWA as a user with admin rights go to Admin > Server
Configuration and scroll down to the "General" settings. There is a
permission there for Allowing Project Professional 2002 to Connect to
Project Server. Make sure that is set to Allow and make sure that your
Security Templates (if you use them) and / or Category permissions
allow that setting for any Category that needs to log into Project
Server.

Hope this helps.
