Project 2002 Server - 15 minutes to save a file

Pat

We are just beginning to use Project 2002 Server. It is taking up to
15 minutes to initially save a Project file to the server. We are
running with 2002 Server and we have installed Service Pack 1 on the
server and updated the clients with the related Service Pack 1. Can
anyone make suggestions to help this problem?

Thanks,

Pat

Dear Pat,

Though I can't say much on this but you can try the scripts provided by
Microsoft to optimize ur DB.

Also, in case the project contains lots of constraints and leave for
individual resources then I've seen that it takes some time to save it.

It can also be due to slow network or insufficient hardware.

Regards,
Sumit.

I am having problem publishing. I have another thread to
this similar problem. Saving teh project takes 30 seconds
to 60 seconds for a 2 task to 200 task project. For me,
publishing the project is taking very very long (4 minutes
to 15 minutes)

I have tried all the optimization scripts/shrinking of SQL
database.

The server side (4 GB RAM/Dual processor) and client side
(PIII or PIV and 512 MB) hardware is much above
recommended levels. SQL is also on a separate server with
similar specs. The server resources are being utilized 10-
20% only.

Network is not an issue. It is on a LAN.

I have a feeling that there is something wrong with the
software. May be it is buggy.

I have seen some improvements as well after applying SP1.
But the delays in publishing are very annoying and
confusing to the user community.
