Importing Excel to project
Why does the "Merge into an existing Project file" appends
the Excel file to the last row of the Project?

Hello,
Did you set a "merge key" for the map while you imported the Excel data ? If
so, which one ?
the "Unique ID" ?

Yes, I am setting a "Merge key". I'm not sure what you
mean by "Unique ID". I don't think project will allow
merging data as MS Word does. I would the the map to allow
a new column in the existing project file. Instead of
appending to the end.

Humm... if you don't know what is the "Unique ID" field, I understand why
you meet some problems during the data import.
MS Project needs a true identifier to drop a piece of data on the correct
row. Insert the Unique ID field in the map definition (for export and for
import) and try again. Tell me if it works.

Yes, the mapping can fill in a column with data from excel, but you have to
set a merge key.
Do the following :
File / Open / Files of type : Microsoft Excel Workbooks (*.xls) / open...
then follow the instructions...

Yes, I've done these things already. When the data is
imported it appends to the last row of the active Project
file. Eventhough I've selected "Merge into the Active
file".

I would like to merge new data to active Task. Is this
possible without doing a copy paste.
