Project 2003 and access to Proj Server

W

Wes Johnson, PMP

I have Project Server 2003 and Project Professional 2003 installed with Pro
on several machines. I can access Project web access using //server/proserv
via IE. When I open Pro on my laptop and do tools/enterprise options/server
accounts and I add a new account, when I click test connections, I get a 404
access denied error. If I perform the same action on another workstation,
it does the connect successfully.

What am I missing here?

Wes,

Did you add your server to your trusted sites in IE?

Hi Wes,

Is it possible you do not have all the same DNS settings on your computer as
the others?

Thanks,

Hi,

I had the same problem. When I open the site with IE, it does a HTTP
authentication. But for Project professional there's no place to enter
username/password for that authentication. I could fix that by removing the
HTTP authentication form the IIs server for that directory.

But that may be a huge security risk. I reinstalled the project server
(whole system including the OS), and now for some reason it works fine. I
did not have to disable the HTTP authentication.... surprising...
