Project 2003 and MSDE

Hello,

I was told that Project Server 2003 would work with MSDE. I have
successfully setup Project Server 2003 and Project Web Access. However, when
I try to connect Project Professional 2003 to the server it gives an error
that the database is not accessible (error 5001). I have added domain logins
and given database access permissions to the appropriate users via the OSQL
command but still cannot get Project Pro to connect. Is there something I am
missing?

Thank you,

What would be the point of using it with MSDE ?

Windows SharePoint Services is free and includes WMSDE which is a version of
MSDE 2.0 with no throttling and no restriction in the maximum size of the
database.

Manfred,

Perhaps you could tell me how to integrate Project Server with teh Windows
SharePoint Services version of WMSDE? I have been following the Microsoft
Office Project Server 2003 Single Computer Installation Guide (which
references SQL Server) and it has directions on installing SharePoint
Services but still needs another database. The point of using MSDE was to
avoid the expense of SQL Server.

Thank you,

Eric

I have also followed the Microsoft
Office Project Server 2003 Single Computer Installation Guide successfully
with perhaps the small advantage that I previously had installed WSS both
with and without WMSDE on several occasions.

BUT I think I did it with SQL Server 2K (oops).

So let's think a bit - the single server guide says at an early stage that
you install WSS and then only later do you install Project Server 2003.

When you install WSS, to get WMSDE you use the default installation.

And if Project Server 2003 would only need the database for the WSS bits
then you could link it to that, but you are almost certainly right and it
needs SQL Server 2K for it's own stuff.

In other word my mind is going.

Back to Square 1.

Sorry.
