Project 2003 - blank items and files after install

I had MS Project 2002 installed. I uninstalled it and installed MS Project
2003 Pro. Now i have the problem where toolbar dropdowns are not populating.
And when I open a project, i get no errors, but also no file or tasks or
anything. It doesnt lock up, but nothing ever displays in the project file.
It sounds like what is in KB 875440, but I uninstalled before installing.
How can I fix this?

That article suggests that the Global.mpt file is not overwritten by the new
version. I'd search my hd for global.mpt and rename or delete any
occurances. Project will automatically recreate a new one and use it to
update your current version.

sounded like a great idea. deleted the 3 found. launched, it re-installed
some features, but still same thing.

blank screen, no errors, no dropdowns and no info.

thanks, though.

any other ideas?
