Project 2003 problem with tasks and views

Hi,

Can anybody help and explain?!

Why is it when I have entered in my tasks and milestones etc in my Ganntt
Chart view and I flick between my print preview or resource sheet view some
of my tasks/milestones are moved?!
In some cases the text of my tasks going AWOL?!
Is this a glitch or is there a patch I could download to fix this problem?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Su

"moved" in what sense - has the time they're going to be performed at
changed or is it just a zoom problem. If the later, you can use Format /
Timescale to control the "view" concept.

And could you please explain a bit more about what you mean when you say "In
some cases the text of my tasks going AWOL?!" - do you mean text as in the
Gantt Chart task list disappearing?

The full line of the task shifts its position within the Gantt chart view
i.e. where the task was entered in the 1st postion after switching over to
print preview and then back again the task moves to a different position
within the project. Very annoying.

As for the text disappearing...in some cases when switching between the
print preview view some of the text for the tasks simply disappears in which
case I simply close the whole project down and re-load it again and the text
re-appears.

Yes

It means I have to save constantly especially when I am to switch between
views due to the randomn occurences of these events.

Hope this explains a bit more of what I am experiencing.

never seen or heard of these problems before - sorry
does this occur in just one project file or in all of your project files (ie
if you create a new text one, do the same things happen?)

it is possible that your project file is on its way to becoming corrupt - so
you might like to try the ideas outlined at
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm#File Bloat - Might be Corruption

Hopefully, someone else will stop by with their ideas.

Not sure if this will help but I used to have problems in earlier versions
of project where things would move or disappear. Pressing CTRL & F3
refreshed the screen and brought everything back.

Also the view would jump back to 1996 CTRL and HOME solves this one.

good point - forgot Project's problem with screen refresh .. hopefully
this will solve it.

Whoops - it's ALT & Home to take you to the start of the project in the
Gantt Chart, CTRL & HOME takes you to the top left of the current table.
