Project 2003 Security

I have read quite a bit and am having trouble understanding the categories
and global permissions. Can someone explain what 'my projects' , 'my
resources' and 'my organization' is?

Has someone gone through all the permissions and documented a good practice
for their employees? What PM gets and what team members get?

A simple way to think about Groups and Categories is as follows:

Categories control what a user can see in Project Server
Groups control what a user can do in Project Server

Both Groups and Categories are part of the Project Server security model.
Because your question requires an answer of the length and depth for which I
do not have the time to write, I will recommend that you purchase our
Project Server 2003 book for Administrators, which you can reference by
clicking the URL in my signature block. The book offers an thorough and
complete explanation of Groups and Categories, and answers common questions
about how to set up Project Server security for very specific needs. Hope
this helps.
