Project 2003 Server with WSS and SPS

Greetings,

I recently came across a questions pertaining to Project 2003 and WSS/SPS.

Our current environment we are running WSS with SPS and have had no issues.

We have had a request to install a Project 2003 server to manage our project
management and someone has told me that in order to do so you need a WSS
server without SPS.

I find this hard to believe and I'm curious if someone could clarify this
for me. I understand that Project 2003 doesn't integrate with SPS but I'm
curious if we can still run our existing SharePoint environment with Project
2003 or if we need to build a new WSS server without SPS.

Thanks in advance!

You have the option to use WSS as a collaboration tool for documents, issues
and risks. A modified Project Template is added to the WSS site that you
create, it will run alongside an existing WSS installation. It is not
supported running on a server with SPS, but this is generally because it
hasn't been tested rather than anything else. There are successful
installations of Project Server on SBS which proves the point
