Project 2003 Standard Installation/Configuration

Tim Mccoy

Is there an installation and/or configuration checklist available?

We are going to install Project 2003 Standard on 10 pc's. An installation
and/or configuration checklist would be helpful. This could include items
such as: before rolling out any changes to global.mpt make sure and define
your reports and calendar holidays, or make sure to set the default Duration
in all versions to your organizations standard.

Thank you.

I always set Effort Driven to Off as the default
I set show last 9 files used
Set File save default which should be the shared network folder where all
project information is saved.

Calendars, hours per day and default start times should all be the same for
everyone.

I also add custom Views for critical path, total slack, printing, costs,
Tracking Gantt for all 10 extra baselines, milestones and current tasks
Each of these Views may have its own table and filter. Getting them all into
the Global.Mpt file used by everyone is a good start. Make sure you have a
process to update everyone's Global and educate them that anything they save
in the Global file may get over-written. Alternatively use a VBA macro to
update Global files.
