Project 2003 Standard- Resource Pool edits

I have developed a resource pool for our IS dept. We have our project files
and resource pool on a shared network drive (trying to make the most out of
our tool before we upgrade to EPM Project Server 2007). We are unable to edit
the resource pool and strip out employees that are no longer with the
company, project time from old projects (old project plans are no longer on
the shared drive and have been removed from the master project plan), or get
accurate reports based on current projects.

Should I recreate the resource pool and have project managers reassign their
resources/relink their plans to the resource pool?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rod- No our project managers did not unattach the old plans from the pool.
Would you agree with Jan that I need to recreate the resource pool and
reattach the current project plans?

I would now, yes. If you don't unattach first then you now have a broken
link. With the DDE technology used for links, it's a matter of when, not if
the pool or a linked project will corrupt.

Personally, to prevent regular corruptions I never keep resource pools. I
Use VBA to create temporary pools for reporting and levelling purposes then
undo the pool, again with VBA afterwards.

Never move, rename, over-write or delete a file without first unlinking from
the pool and make sure the pool and the project is saved.

Hi Rod- Thank you for your post. Would you mind sharing your VBA to create a
temporary pool? Happy New Year!
