Project 2003 Standard stopped responding during leveling operation :(

I know I should have saved more frequently...

After a few hours worth of work I levelled my project.
Project showed some progress and then ... nothing.
The titlebar showed 'not responding'.

I had to terminate the process and loose all my work.

1) Is this a known bug?
2) Is there a way to recover the file I was working on should this happen
again?

System:
Dual 2.4GHz Xeon, 1Gb, 120Gb
XP Pro, all updates as of 15 Dec 2003.
Office 2003 Pro, Visio 2003, Project 2003 Standard, all updates as of 7 Dec
2003.

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

I've had no reports of this happening, though I've had the same thing with
many other varieties of software over the years. It just shows the value of
making frequent backups!
