Project and DotNet Framework v2

Hi,

I have installed Project 2003 and have not used for quite some time,
Recently I installed Visual Stuido Beta and removed the Beta version.

When I run Project 2003 after the removal of framework beta v2. I prompt me
to reinstall the framework. I downloaded the runtime from MS and reinstalled
the framework v2. After that, When I opened Project 2003, the program does n
ot work. I have a empty placeholder of icon 'x' image.

In another computer which has VS 2005 trail version installed. I install
Project 2003 and have the same result.

Is Project 2003 not compatible with V2 .Net framework. What make Project
2003 prompt for Framework v2. Is version 1.1 not used, afterall, version 2 is
not out.

Thanks

Seb

Hi,

Project doesn't need either framework. Probably VS2005 changed a registry
setting on uninstall that messed with Project. Try repairing Project and
that should fix it. If not, uninstall then reinstall.

Hi Rod Gill,

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I did a new project installation on another computer with framework v2
installed which does not have a Project 2003. The same result happen when I
run the program. I did a detect and repair without ecountering any error
response. The result remained the same.

I also did a new installation on another computer running Windows 2000
Professional without Framework v2 installed. The program runs fine.

Beside this, I did encounter another problem, When I make the new
installation of Project 2003 on the computer with Framework v2. It's also
screwed up my outlook profile, I noticed it when I ran my Office Outlook 2003
and was prompt for a new profile. What happen to my existing profile? no
idea. Luckily, I always put all my emails into other datafiles in other
directory, so I did not actually lose any emails, I hope.

I also noticed from time to time, new installation can actually screwed up
Office program, eg requesting for reinstallation of program. This happen to
Excel once.
