Project Application Service not installed...

We have a single development server installed with the following:

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2
Office Sharepoint Services 2007
Team Foundation Server 2008
Project Server 2007

Everything functions except for Project Server. It installs fine and the
Sharepoint Configuration wizard works as expected, except that the Project
Application Service does not exist on the server, therefore I cannot 'start'
the service in Sharepoint Central Administration, which means I can't create
the PWA Site. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Project Server several
times, no go.

Normally this happens if you have a MOSS farm and you didn't deploy the
PS07 bits to EVERY server. Obviously, you shouldn't have that problem
with everything on a single server.

In the "Services on Server" page, it doesn't show up anywhere, even in
Custom? I assume either you've tried or there is no Project Application
role listed. Have you checked the Services MMC console? Do the two
Project Server services show up there?

By the way, if you've uninstalled and reinstalled Project Server from a
joint MOSS/PS deployment, be aware that this is not supported and your
results will be unpredictable. When testing this in a VPC, I've had
everything from nothing to a complete removal of all services in the
SSP occur.

I imagine you've spent a significant amount of time working on this
already. I would consider removing the applications from the server and
starting over, if possible.

Stephen,

Thanks for the reply. I had already opened a case with MS Support regarding
this issue. They believe it is due to the fact that I followed the TFS
Install Guide, which recommends installing SharePoint Web Front-End, which
doesn't install the Application Tier...

They recommend installing SharePoint as a 'Complete' install. It's odd how
SharePoint is functioning if the Application Tier isn't installed? But,
regardless, I suppose I need to completely start over to get this working.

Hm... that is odd.

I agree that you should probably start over... Let us know if you run
into any other trouble.
