Project Application Service not listed

Mr. Santiago

Installing Project Server 2007 onto an existing MOSS 2007 farm configuration
as follows:

2 Application Servers
2 Web Front End servers (NLB, Network Load Balanced)
Clustered SQL 2005 server
1 Project Server 2007

MOSS has been installed for a while, trying to introduce Project Server 2007
into the farm. I'm running a "Complete" install, problem is the physical
server appears in CA "Central Administration" as a server in the farm. But
the problem is the "Project Application Service" does not show up as an
available service.

Current MOSS farm is running SP1. Prior to running "Sharepoint Products and
technologies wizard" I install the binary files and then install WSS 3.0 SP1
and Office server SP1, then run the wizard. THe configuration finishes with
a successful but no Project Application Service is listed.

I've successfully installed Project Server 2007 before but it was in a
non-MOSS environment.

Does MOSS 2007 support the installation of Project Server 2007 in a farm?
If so what am I missing or doing wrong.

Yes, Project Server installs to a MOSS farm. You must install Project Server
to every application server in the farm. It sounds like you might have tried
installing to only one server. Keep in mind that this may not be your best
approach from a licensing perspective, as it obligates you to purchase a
license for every server. Whereas your usage may be much higher for MOSS
than Project Server, this may represent wasted licensing dollars.

Thanks Gary I will try that, licensing is not an issue. But if it is for
others out there, any significant advantage to install onto an existing MOSS
farm vice installing onto a standalone or creating a seperate small farm.

We'll probably just create a seperate small farm (2 servers) for this if no
significant advantage:

1 application server (Project Server 2007)
1 SQL 2005

that worked perfectly.

also, to my last question any added benefits to installing onto an existing
FARM?
