Project Baseline

Hi,
I'm trying to create a Project view in order to support Project Monitoring
for PMs. I need to show actuals and the baselines for the project. There are
11 fields for Baseline, how do i set up the view so that the recent baseline
is displayed in the view? (if possible) or do i have to update the view
everytime a new baseline is created? If so, any work arounds?
Looking forward to some help.

Regards,
Haris

Hi Haris
Once i had the same problem like you. I dont theink that its possible to
create such a dynamik view in PWA.
its also not posible to create a view in Microsoft project professional. But
i createt a makro that can compares the selectet baseline with the actual
data. its probably not what u need.. sorry..

Hi Haris,

I had the same wish and did the following:
Make sure you always baseline twice. First in the normal baseline and the
second in the first free one in the range from 1 to 10.
By doing so, "baseline" always is the most recent (current) baseline,
baseline1 is the first (original) baseline, baseline2 is the second baseline,
and so on.
Then you can use the baseline fields in ProjectServer and Project2003 to
show the most recent (current) baseline, the baseline1 fields for the
original baseline etc.

Hope this helps,

Haris,

We have set up four different baselines in our configuration since we are
tracking project stages individually. In order to do so we had to configure
outline codes to capture the correct data for each of the four baselines (we
don't use the upper level Baseline). Specific views were then developed
(Project & PWA) which displays the data for the required baseline (BL1 - BL4).

We also had to set up some pretty detailed equations to grab the correct data.

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions. I'd probably be adopting what Freek de Ruiter
suggested. Sounds like an interesting work around! Thanks everyone for
sharing your thoughts :)

My only caution about using Baseline1 is that is very easy to select and
overwrite by accident. I recommend using the Baseline10 to store the
original.
