Project cannot recognize this file format in MS Project 2007

My boss and I both have MS Project 2007. I created a project document and forwarded to her, which she was (and still can) open. But ever since she opened my project plan, she has not been able to open a project plan that she was previously able to do so. She forwarded me a copy and I cannot open it either. We've tried renaming it at the file manager level, opening it as text, using viewers, etc. Nothing works.

Is there anything that would have been 'in' my project that would have prevented her from opening hers?

The error we both get is:
Project cannot recognize this file format.
Do you want to open this file as text only?

Is there any way of forcing it to open in some way that we can at least get task info?
