Project Center actual cost view

I have created views in Project Center which contains Projects, Proposals and
Activities

The Problem is;

My Actual cost and Actual Duration columns are showing 0 and Remaining
Duration and Remaining Cost columns are showing estimated Duration and
estimated Cost. As it supposed to pick up total logged time from timesheet.

Can someone help?

Hi ss028955,

When your staff updates timesheets, they dont automatically update the
project tasks. From what you are writing, I would say that non of your
projects have started, hence the reason why actual work = 0 and remaining
work = work (and cost). Please note that timesheet data needs to either be
imported into the task updates, or task progress needs to be manages seperate
from timesheet. Once the task is updated the PM needs to approve the work and
republish the project. Once this has happened you will see that the Project
Center view will reflect your project progress.
I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks

Thanks Marc,

I think Project Manager will hate this. It will be very time consuming for
project manager to republish the project everytime there is an task update.

Is there any other solution like automating the process?

hi ss028955,

I hear what you are saying and many users have complained about this. It
does make sense to split the timesheet and task update, but a tighter
integration would be desireable. The Microsoft EPM team have released a tool
on codeplex which allows you to automate the timesheet and task update. Check
out this page, you may find it useful:
http://www.codeplex.com/AutoStatusService

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks

Thanks Marc,

The Automation services seems to be quite good but not working in our
environment.

I am getting an syntax error when I tried to run the SQL script manually on
SQL 2000. I think the Sql Script seems to be built in SQL 2005. Do you know
the process to convert SQL 2005 script to SQL 2000?

Hi Marc,

The AutoStatusService doesn't seems to be tested property.

I finally managed to installed it. but now users are not able to save
timesheet. I tried to log the issue with CodePlax, But Registration page
seems to be not working.

I may need to Restore the old server image and database . :-(

Thanks

Hi ss028955,
To be honest I am not quite sure, but I can imagine that SQL 2005 is a
pre-requisit to run the code. You many want to ask this question in the
Proejct Server development User forum.

sorry I cant give you a definite answer

I learnt a lesson from this

"if you don't have a Project programming experience, Don't install this
event handler. " It took me two days to get rid of this event handler.

Main issue after the installation was unable to save Timesheet.

I hope microsoft comes up with Automating the proces in near future.

Cheers
