Project Center Issue

We are running Project Server 2007 and have encountered a strange error. When
attempting to open a project plan from the Project Center web interface into
the project client (by clicking on the project icon to the left of the
project plan name) we are getting two error messages back to back. The first
states 'Project Server was unable to find the specified project....' then
immediately after hitting OK we get 'There is not enough memory to complete
the operation....'. I narrowed this issue down to only those project plans
containing the '&' in the file name and this issues exists across all Project
Server 2007 instances we have in our environment.

Has anyone ever seen this issue before or is it specific to our environment?

Is there a known fix?

Any help would be appreciated - thank you.

I'm surprised we haven't heard this one before. Do you have any custom event
handlers running on the system? As a general rule, it's not OK to use
special characters, in project names, resource names, and customfield names
and values. It's also a good idea to keep them out of task names as well.
You can safely use the underscore character.

We are using the PSI however we are not using custom event handlers.
Basically we are using custom fields and lookup tables to generate project
names which creates a project and for whatever reason it allows us to create
them with special characters (the PSI doesnt produce any error messages). The
only special character we have a problem with is the '&' and only from within
the project center. Anyway if I find the root cause I will be sure to post
it. Thanks.
