Project Center subscription and synchronizing via internet (VPN)

OK, here's the story: We have one guy who works for my company and he
works out Mississippi (company is out of Minnesota), he uses VPN
(Panther Server) to connect to our server remotely to access various
databases. Now, we have started using Project Center and all its
tools. Can the guy in Mississippi subscribe to a Project when invited
and also get synchronized when Entourage runs the scheduled
synchronization? Would this happen when he connects to our server
through VPN? Are there changes that need to happen to his computer,
Entourage Project Center folder, or our server to make this happen? I
looked through other support areas and didn't find much on subscribing
and synchronizing via the internet.

Thank for your help!

I don't know if there are any special restrictions using VPN. If he has
access to the same server and also has Entourage 2004, then he ought to be
able to subscribe to the Project in the ways described by the Entourage
Help.

As long as he can mount the server as a visible "volume" (disk) in the
Finder, then this ought to work, as far as I know. But there may be errors
and hangs when his Entourage is open and he is not connected to your server,
as Entourage attempts to synchronize. As far as I know, he will get an error
message which allows him to "Cancel" synchronizing to the Project and should
keep things quiet for that session. When he's ready to connect, he should
quit Entourage, connect to your server, then launch Entourage again. That
should do it.

(For people whose Project Folder is on an iDisk, there's a new mechanism in
Tiger that makes this easier: System Preferences/.Mac/iDisk , and turn iDisk
Synching ON (Automatically). That makes the iDisk on your computer "local",
and it syncs with the server in the background when you're connected,
without interfering with Entourage. But there's no way to do this with other
servers that I know of. Perhaps there's some 3rd-part WebDAV software that
can do the same thing, but I don't know of it.)
