project center view and master projects

Hi there
I would like to create view in Project Center where there is a heading
called Commercial Projects, and all the projects assigned to
"Commercial" are indented underneath it.
We have 2 sections to the organisation and the CEO would like to see
the projects broken out into "Commercial" and "Registration"
I've fiddled a bit with creating a master project, but seeing the sub
projects requires clicking into the master project. The CEO would like
to see the sub projects just indented beneath the heading, and not have
to click into it.
Is it possible to do this, please?
many thanks
lynne

I would recommend that you create a custom enterprise Project text field in
the Enterprise Global for this purpose. Name the new field something like
Classification, and include a value list in this field with Commercial and
Registration as the values. After creating this new field, ask your PM's to
open each of their projects, click Project - Project Information, and set
the Classification value for each project. Your PM's will also need to
republish the project by clicking Collaborate - Publish - All Information.
You can then create a custom Project Center view and include Grouping on
this Classification field. Hope this helps.

Another option is to use an Enterprise Project Outline Code as the custom
field and then you can use the edit feature in PWA so that you don't have to
open each project

In addition to Julian's excellent advice, the advantage of using an
enterprise Project outline code would be that it would become a dimension in
the OLAP cube for viewing in Portfolio Analyzer views. Hope this helps.
