We have about 170 projects and our Project Server views are all slow to load.
The Resource Center views and Project Analyzer all come up quickly. Any
ideas on how to improve this?

Thanks,

Walter

Hi Walter,

Could you provide more information. More specifically:

Current EPM hardware for Project Server, SQL Server, OLAP Services,
SharePoint, etc. (RAM, CPU, Hard Disk, etc.)

It will help us to isolate and determine the problem.

Many thanks

Walter:

Rolly is correct, we need metrics. What are the plan characteristics as
well? Number of tasks, resources, duration, etc.

Sorry for the delay - it took awhile to get the answer from our systems group.

All of this is on the same machine right now. The O/S is Windows 2003,
quad processor, 3.4 GHz, 3 GB RAM, Project Server has access to 12GB of
storage.

The number of tasks per project is anything from 1 or 2 to 500 but probably
more in the 50 per project average.

We have fewer than 5 regular users of the system right now with about 150
resources loaded.

Total assignments across all loaded projects is about

This problem occurs on multiple workstations for multiple users. We're
about to ramp up use so we need to resolve this.

Views in the Resource Center and Project Analyzer come up quickly.

A client of ours had seen months of slow performance in Project Center.
We had them install Windows Server 2003 SP1 and saw vast improvements
in speed. One of our Project Center views went from 54 seconds to load,
to 10 seconds. (This view used all 30 columns, about half of which were
custom fields and outline codes.)

We installed Windows Server 2003 SP1 and rebooted and everything is back to
normal. Thanks for the help!
