Project Checkin problem

P

I have not been able to checkin any new projects since I installed this
project 2007 server. I can create a project, save it, publish it but can not
close and checkin a project. Here is the error message:

The following job failed to complete
Job type: Checkin
Error ID: -2146823237(0x800A13BB)
Error Description: Attachment:Maximum retry on the connection exceeded.
Could not checkin project. Please contact your system administrator to force
checkin this project.

I have checked all the jobs in queue and they all have success status with
not stuck jobs. I can force checkin a project and then open it in project pro
2007 but if I try to save it again I get the same error message.
Updated project 2007 server, sharepoint services 3 and project pro 2007 to
SP1 and infrastructure update, but nothing helped eliminate the error message.
Please let me know if anyone has any suggestion or solution to this problem.
Thanks.

The error indicates an authentication failure at the database. This is odd,
if it has been working right along and suddently stopped. You should be
looking at the ULS logs as well as the applicaiton logs for a clue to what
is failing. Have you done this?
