Project Costs Associated to Task

Hi - I tried to do some thorough researching before posting this, but alas I
cannot seem to find the answer to my question or perhaps I am just blatantly
oblivious! I need to be able to associate costs on a task basis, not a
resource basis. Meaning, that the different resources being allocated to my
project will all utilize different rates at various intervals, depending on
the tasks they are executing. How can I achieve this in Project? Do I need
to modify custom Enterprise fields? I'd like to be able to account for
actuals and present to management.

Thank you much in advance,

If you are using Project Server, you should repost to the sister group,
ProjectServer as we address the desktop application here. So, with that in
mind ---

Resources may be assigned different rates for different task assignments.
Fred can bill $100/r for Steam Shovel Work and then bill $80/hr to drive the
dump truck... regardless of when each of the tasks is scheduled (including
concurrently). Actually, Fred can charge different rates on different days
too...

Go to the Resource Sheet and double click on a resource, pull the costs tab.
You will see five more pull tabs A-E. Each of these represents a rate scale
and can also have its own effective dates (see the spreadsheet portion at the
bottom on each sheet). So put $100/hr in Tab A and $80/hr in Tab B. If you
want to get tricky, you can change the rates over time in the spreadsheet
portion.

To assign a rate to a resource on a specific task, go to the Task Usage
View. In the Task Usage View is a list of tasks and individual resources
assigned to each task. On the left side, insert the "Cost Rate Table"
column. Change to the rate table you wish to apply to that task for that
resource. Yes, you can mix and match.

If you are industious, you can even have Fred work the same task at
different rates depending on the day of the week....

Is that what you needed?
