Project crashing when accessing pull down menu

I wonder if anyone has some input on this issue:

Case summary:
Laptop with WinXPPro and Project 2003. Project starts to crash every time a
dropdown field is accessed (IE dropdown accessed). All updates installed for
both Office 2003, Project 2003 and WinXPPro. No change.

Office and project uninstalled, and new 2007 version of both products
installed, and updated. No change.

Laptop reinstalled with WinXPPro and Office and Project versions 2007.
Project no longer crashes. Two weeks pass, and the problem reappears.
Uninstalled only program installed during this time (TomTom HOME
application). No change.

So here we are, and no closer to a solution it seems.

And reading through some other posts on the same issue, we have located the
problem.

"HP Credential Manager". Our working theory is that it thinks that the drop
down menus etc in Project are looking for credentials and is trying to access
them... Without it everything seems to run fine.

I'll drop a line to HP about it as well...
