Project Default Cost Rate Table

I fear I already know the answer to this question...

Is there a way to set a Cost Rate Table for a project, so that when new
tasks are created or assignments changed, the Cost Rate Table on the
assignment will default to the Cost Rate Table assigned to the project?

Conrad,
Cost Rate Table "A" is the default and that is the project cost rate
table. Any new resource assignments will use that table.

However, I suspect that is to simple an answer so there must be more to
your question. Can you clarify exactly what you mean by "cost rate table
assigned to the project"?

Each resource has a default standard and overtime cost, Rate Table A, and
that's the resource rates you see on the resource sheet view. So to have
one standard rate for all tasks in the project, make each resource's
standard and overtime rates the same. That being said, that's really not
realistic. The cost of getting the work done on a task that requires the
company president for 1 hour is certainly going to be considerably higher
than the cost of a task that requires a new-hire janitor for one hour.
