Project file will not open

When trying to open my project file, the error message reads: “The operation
cannot be completed because the file contains invalid project data or the
total number of rows would exceed the limit of 1,048,000 rows in a project.â€
The project file has ~2000 rows, so that isn’t the problem. The file I’m
trying to open was copied onto a stick on one computer and I’m trying to open
it on another – both have Project 2007 Pro.

What anti-virus software do the PCs have? There is a suggestion that recent
av updates may be causing problems, but this has not yet been proved.

If the file still opens on the other machine, try the copy operation again.
Another cause of this problem is people pulling the stick out while the file
is still open. As a safety measure, I always shut MS Project down and use
the proper procedure to power down the stick prior to removing it.
