Does anyone know if Project files can be opened with office for mac?

No, they can't... At least not by anything in Mac Office. There is also no
comparable MS product available on the Mac. Whether there might be a program
from another source capable of opening or reading MS Project files I
honestly do not know, but I doubt it.

You might be interested in FastTrack Schedule from AEC
<http://www.aecsoftware.com/products/fasttrack/integration/msproject/>.
It does have MS Project data exchange capabilities. Not quite sure what
that entails. ;-)
