We have installed Project Client SP1 and have modified
the registry to allow Project Clients to attach to a
Project Server that is in the Local Intranet Zone rather
than the Trusted Sites zone. This fix was per KB
843608. Prior to applying SP1 and modifying the
registry, the Project Server had to be in the Trusted
Sites zone.
We were satisfied with this behavior until we tried using
custom content in our Project Guide. Using the Critical
Path custom guide that is included with the Microsoft
Office Project 2003 SDK, we encounter the following error
message:
"This project is attempting to use web pages from the
site
http://customguideURL.dnsentry.com/guides/critpath/sample.
xml to display its Project Guide. You have not identified
this site as a trusted site in Internet Explorer.
Project cannot display pages from untrusted sites, so
this project will be opened using the default Project
Guide. If you want to use the web pages from another site
to display the Project Guide, you need to make the site
trusted in Internet Explorer. You should only make a site
trusted if you are aware of the site's identity, and you
trust it will not damage your computer or your data.
Note that when you trust a site in Internet Explorer, you
are trusting the entire domain to which that site
belongs. For example, if you trust the site
http://www.microsoft.com/widgets, you are trusting the
entire http://www.microsoft.com domain."
This message implies that installing SP1 and modifying
the registry per KB 843608 does not completely alleviate
the need for having project server in the Trusted Sites
zone.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott
