project is unstable

When I open my project (actually two projects with linked tasks) my screen is
unstable. In the bottom left corner the ready indicater goes off and on
conatantly, and the cursor alternates back and forth to the hourglass and the
screen flickers.

This only happens when I have this file (pair of files) open, and it does
not matter whether I open it locally or from the enterprise server.

My guess is that you have a circular link between the two files. The
alternating hourglass and screen flickering are indicative of Project in
a circular calculation. It is trying to resolve the link but is having a
difficult time.

My suggestion is to first examine the links between the files, (if you
can even open them to do so), and insure there are no "backward pass"
links. Also, make sure there are no links on summary lines. If nothing
is apparent, I would next try breaking half the links and see what
happens. Do this in an iterative fashion until you find the problem. You
might first want to store the link source and destination addresses in
spare fields so you don't lose the information.
