Hello. In project server 2003, is their a feature for leveling resources
across, say, 3 projects, without using client tools?

thanks

To level overallocations in even a single project, you must use Microsoft
Project Professional for this purpose. There is no way to do this within
PWA. Obviously, the same is true for three projects, and you must open all
three if you have resource overallocations that span all three projects.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dale. One other question for you. Do I need to set up a resouce
sharing file in order to do this with three projects. Or do I just open up
the threee, and then on one of the projects, run the leveling utility?

Thanks,

Assuming you are using Project Server, no, you do not need to open a
resource sharing file. Simply open the three projects and level
accordingly. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dale. So to level in the client, I need all three projects open, and
then run the leveling routines in just one of them. Does one of the files
need to be sharer file to do this?

thanks.

If you are using Project Server, you do not (and should not) need to use a
shared resource pool file. Simply open all three projects and leve in one
of them. I would strongly recommend that you level in the Resource Usage
view and that you level only one overallocated resource at a time. Apply
the Leveling Gantt view and study the results of leveling in the Leveling
Gantt view before you level the next resource in the Resource Usage view.
You are using Project Server, right? Let us know.
