Project Locked (Project Server 2007 w/SP1)

Frank J.

I have one project that when trying to edit (open) via PWA gives the error
message "This project cannot be opened in read-write mode because a previous
checkin for this project is not completed".

When trying to force "check in" this project via Server Setting... it does
not appear on list of projects checked out.

I can open in read-only mode and save under a different name... however,
many documents are attached to project plan and they are not carried forward
when doing this.

I've searched this database and don't beleive I came accross a solution.

Please help.

Thanks, Frank j

have you went to PWA > Server Settings > Force Check-in Enterprise Objects?
the are list of checked-out projects that you can forcedly check-in.

Ask the user to try this:

1. Launch Project Professional 2007 and connect to Project Server.
2. Click Tools - Local Project Cache - Cleanup Cache.
3. Select the project in question and click the Remove From Cache button.
If the project is not visible in the current list, click the Project Filter
pick list and select the "Projects Checked Out to You" item, select the
project, and click the Remove From Cache button.
4. Click the Close button.

Sometimes projects get "stuck" in a checked out state in the Local Cache.
One way to resolve this is to do the above steps. Also, if you have not
applied SP1 to both Project Professional 2007 and Project Server 2007, you
should consider doing so now. Hope this helps.
