Project Manager and Team Members

Hello,

Is it possible to limit the Project Manager permissions to assign only
resources which are under its RBS level?
Or Project Managers are *always* able to assign all the resources without
limitation?

Thanks

The answer is yes to your first question. It is entirely possible to limit
the PM to view and assign only his/her own resources. However, your Project
Server administrator would first need to build an RBS field code structure
that mimics your company's "org chart." And he/she would then need to set
an RBS value for every resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool to show
Project Server "who reports to whom." After doing these two required steps,
your Project Server administrator would need to modify the My Projects
category and the Project Managers group as follows:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Manage security
3. Select the My Projects category and click the Modify Category button
4. In the Resources section, select the first three checkboxes (the first
two are already selected by default)
5. Click the Save Changes button
6. Click the Manage Users and Groups link in the sidepane, and then click
the Groups link in the sidepane
7. Select the Project Managers group and click the Modify Group button
8. In the Categories section, remove the My Organization category
9. Make sure the My Projects category is selected
10. In the Permissions grid of the Categories section, set these additional
permissions to Allow:

Assign Resource
See Enterprise Resource Data

11. DO NOT change any of the other permissions in the Permissions grid
12. Click the Save Changes button

Hope this helps.
