Project Manager - Timesheet Approval

P

Proj_Admin

Hello,

As the Project Manager for one of the projects in my company, I know I have
the option to accept or reject the updates I receive from my resources
(timesheets) before committing the changes to the appropriate project plan.
This process has run smoothly for several months up until today.

Instead of task updates being sent to me, today's task updates from
resources went to another manager in the company, who is also set with Admin
permissions. This has never happened before, and now I do not remain the
sole gatekeeper of the project plan. The ability to accept and reject
updates now has been transferred to this manager.

I verified in Project Web Access that I am the "Project Manager" assigned to
this project but I still cannot receive timesheet updates. Any suggestions
to why this may have happened? More importantly, how can I restore my
ability to approve/reject resource updates and ensure this manager is not
prompted (or bothered) by further requests to approve time?

Thank you so much in advance,
Proj_Admin

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only.

To answer your question, it sounds like the other admin opened your project
and republished the assignments. This would explain the behavior you see in
the system. To solve this isue, do the following:

1. Open the project in question
2. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments
3. Make sure the pick list at the top of the dialog shows "All Assignments"
4. Select the "Become the manager for these assignments" option
5. Click the OK button

The above process will redirect all updates from the other admin to you.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much; this is exactly what I think happened and the problem is
now resolved. Sorry for posting to the wrong forum!
