Project mdb question

Dave

I have saved a Prj2K mpp file as an mdb, and have opened that mdb in
Project and created and saved a number of tables, views, and Gantt bar
style specifications.

The objects I have created remain intact and usable in the mdb until I
import fresh data into the mdb tables from an updated Project mpp file
(which I do by saving the new Project file as an mdb and then using
those mdb tables to update the data in the existing mdb).

When I perform this update, the previously saved views, tables, and
Gantt bar specs disappear from the original mdb.

Can anybody tell me how I can preserve my saved objects when importing
fresh data?

Thanks
Dave

Working with the database is not as simple as merely copying data from one
database to the other.
There are mechanisms built into project which are used to minimize data
corruption etc.
Please search your computer for the document titled "projdb.htm" which
contains information about working with the database.
You will see that there are a number of flags that must be set to allow
project to accept updates. In addition, some of the data is in binary form
so it is not easily editable (might even be impossible) by a user.
