Project Mgt softwre Comparison

I have been asked to evaluate three software mgt packages. Primavera P3 (way
expensive), Suretrak, and MS Project Std, Pro and Server.

Primary concern is cross project resource leveling, and scheduling.
Secondary is the ability to exchange data with any of the other 2 packages.
I think .mpx handles this.

We already have some commitment in the MS project area (about 10 licenses).
The real question is can MS project match or exceed these other packages.
And is the Project Server a necessary component for the cross-project
resource and scheduling?

I have gone through the MS website, but I do not get a solid feel for these
issues.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I'm too busy to go into the history and relative merits of these
packages here again. It may or may not be relevant to your study, but I
have put forth a lot of information about these packages, their
genisis, and some comparisons. If you search this Google group for
"davegb" and are willing to sort through the others, you might find
something useful.
Hope this helps in your world.

Hi,

I'm not going to compare to other packages but can answer about the
requirements.
MS Project (Std or Pro, only the price is different) can perfectly handle
multiple projects scheduling and resourceing.
Project Server is not necessary.
Hope this helps,
