Project Name distinct from Project Description

S

Suz

Would like to have a project name that is distinct from the project
description. We want to generate that name or find a naming convention on
the fly. It's an 8-12 character name.

Any ideas?

What kind of projects do you manage right now? How do you currently name
your projects? Let us know and we will try to help.

Here's a technique I use with each new project:

1. Open the new project either from a blank project or from a template
2. Click Project - Project Information and set the Start date for the
project
3. Click OK
4. Click File - Properties
5. Enter a Title for the project (using as many characters as reasonable)
and enter a longer description in the Comments field
6. Click OK
7. Click Tools - Options
8. Select the "Display project summary task" option and then click OK

The Project Summary Task (Task 0) now shows you your Title for the project
as the task task and you can also see a Notes indicator which is derived
from the Comments.

9. Save the project using the short name for what you entered in step #5
above. Just an idea. Hope this helps.
