Project Not Checked in???

Project 2007

I manage about 100 projects under Project Server.

I have two projects that when I go to open state that they can be opened in
Read Only Mode for previous check-in was not completed.

When I go to Server Setting and select Force Check-in of Enterprise Objects
neither of these two projects appear there.

How can I get these projects checked in so they can be modified???

Thanks

Frank,

As a quick fix, I would recommend that you delete the local cache for
those two projects. If that works, great. If not, manually delete
the cache. I have had that happen to me once before and deleting the
cache freed them up.

Mark... thanks, but,

Worked for one, but not the other. I'll wait a while to see if I get any
other poswts here. I guess worst case I can open in Read Only Mode, save
under a slightly different name, and than try to delete the old one.

Find the relevent Project in the Published.MSP_Projects table and enter
'Null' in the 'IsCheckedOut' column.

Making changes directly to published database is not supported by Microsoft.
Please make sure you have a complete backup of databases (and know how to
restore them) before attempting any changes.

Hi Frank,

actually I believe you will need to amend the draft database.

go to ProjectServer_Draft database, dbo.MSP_Projects Table, under the
Proj_CECKOUTBY coulmn for the checked out project PRESS CTRL + 0 (that should
replace the value in there with "Null".

Please follow Pauls steps in regards with Database backup and restore. This
is, as Paul mentioned, not supported by Microsoft.
Hope this helps

After deleting the cache, open the recalcitrant plan. If it is still
read only, close the plan, this will often reset checked out flag.
Reopen it (hopefully read/write),

Hi Mike,

there are 3 steps that you can take to check in your project and in the past
one of them has always worked for me.

1. clear you local cash, including browsing to your local cash folder and
deleting all folders
if this does not do the job then
2. Force check in using PWA
if this doesnt work
3. clear the flag in the draft db as described below.

can you please check to see if either of those worked. Let me know how you go
Thanks

I don't disagree with you but going into the database is not for the
faint-hearted. In my experience the flag can often be cleared by the
simple action of closing the read-only file and then re-opening it.
Whatever action failed to complete initially is allowed to complete by
this process.

If this does the trick for you great, I know somethimes clearing the flag on
the DB is the only way to get the project checked in again, but you are right
you need to know how to use a DB. If you dont know what to do in the DB dont
use this option, or let a specialist do the job.
