Project Offline- email

If I email a file(filename.Published) taken offline & send
it for update. If the PM changes another file & renames it
to the same file name(filename.Published). Can this new
file be published back to the Project Server by replacing
the offline file? Any ideas or opinions?

Do so only at your own risk, as this is definitely NOT a recommended method
for working with enterprise projects! Why don't you have the person enter
their actuals in Project Web Access instead? That is how the system is
meant to work.

We have used this method for PM to update their project
plan not for the team to enter actuals. Since the PM's are
across countries in different locations. We currently have
a VPN setup which is very slow access on dial-up so they
prefer to update the offline file emailed to them.
Do you have any suggestions to improve the access speed
using VPN connections?
The team is using the web to enter timesheets & PM is able
to approve the timesheet. But, VPN connections is required
to update the project plan.

Have you considered using Terminal Services?
