Project outline code in reporting

We have projects funded by more than one group. In reporting, I want to see
the actuals (actual hours) reported in each group for that project, cost for
that project, rework % in that group. A resource can only belong to one
group but project can belong to multiple groups.

How can we overcome this trouble by using project outline codes? What is the
best practice? Did anybody face this problem before?
