Project owner

We are in a similiar issue as discussion item: "Subject: How to assign
project owner form code"

However we are using MS ProjectInitiation add on. It seems that who ever
selects the create button, becomes the owner ratehr than the PM that was
added via the Manager field. Does anyone know How we can get the Manager
field to be the owner in PWA for the project?

I looked at the above discussion item, which was helpful but there didn't
seem to be a final solution.

Navigate to the Project Center page in PWA, select the row header for the
project in question, and then click the Edit button. You can set the Owner
there. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale.
I was aware of that. What SQL table/field does the owner and or project
manager field display in.

I will gladly invite our SQL Server experts to correct me if I am wrong, but
I believe that the Owner is stored in the MSP_PPROJECTS table in the
PROJ_MACHINE_ID field. The Manager is stored at the assigment level, but I
am not certain of its location in the SQL Server database. Let's invite our
SQL Server experts to assist.

Dale,
Thanks. I wanted verification. If anyone can come up with the PM field. It
would be appreciated.

Dale,

It doesn't appear that the proj_machine_id in the MSP_PRojects table is the
owner field in PWA.

In that case, I stand corrected. Since I am not a SQL Server expert, I
would invite you to repost your question to see if anyone bites. Hope this
helps.

Ok. Thanks again for your help.

Is there anyone at MS that I can contact? I tried the MSDN site but to no
avail.

It seems funny. We create the project using MS Project Initiation add on.
The person who does the create step on the PI screen becomes the owner
rather than what is input on the manager screen. This all gets passed via an
.. If you open the project in MS Project Client and Publish the plan, the
Proj_machine_id is changed but the owner in PWA is not updated. You physicall
need to change the Owner via the edit field.

If you want to talk to someone at Microsoft Support, take out your credit
card and be prepared to pay for the support. Otherwise, there is no free
source at Microsoft you can call. I have never used the Project Initiation
tool, so I can't really comment on how it works. Sorry.

Navigate to the help directory of your Project Sever installation and
retrieve two documents: pjdb.htm and pjsvrdb.htm - These are the data
dictionaries for Project and Project Server respectively. You can find the
database guidance you need in these documents.
