Project Plan Hours Incorrect

We've been running Project Pro 2003 for the past 11 months. Recently I've
found cases where individuals have as many as 40 - 50 hours A DAY in Actual
Work Protected in the project plans files (seen via resource usage view)!!!
My understanding is this field can only be populated by the approval of
timesheets. When I view resource assignments for these individuals they
typically show a normal workload? How can PWA resource assignments show 8 hrs
in a day while the Actual Work Protected value in the project plan is so
totally whacked?

Do you have SP1 installed?

Do these problems appear only in Administrative projects?

Yes to both. I can't say for certain but it doesn't seem we've had these
types of errors (I hope someone would have noticed employees were working
over 1,000 hours a month) but I can't say for certain. The overpopulation of
hours from admin projects appears to go back to the beginning of our project
plans.

Reid, Wbbusby:
I have been experiencing the same problem, but it's not only to an
administrative project. When running the Porfolio Analyzer, for this project,
the actuals reflect days of 18 - 27 hours, were the reality is that the
resource only entered 8 hours on their timesheet. Also, we've been seeing
that when opening the project that has been linked into a master project, it
appears to be duplicated, within itself. This shows up only on certain
occasions, not all the time. We are running SP1.

That is the issue. Publishing of Master Projects.
It has been my experience that you do not want to do this.
There is an administration setting that explicitly denies the Publishing
of Master Projects.

I don't allow publishing master projects in this environment. Aside from why
this happens (which I'd like to know), how can the project data be
recovered/corrected (which I need to know)?

John, The master project resides on a separate server, not Project Server and
it wasn't published. That would not be the case, as I can read, for either of
our cases, but thanks anyway.

I have similar problems and would like to hear any explanation as to why
hours on a user's timesheet aren't what shows up in the plans.

Same Here. Sometimes a resource submits hours, manager accepts, project
file gets updated and suddenly the hours disappear from the resource's
timesheet view? Doesn't make sense and cannot repro this as it happens
randomly. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Dee
