I am trying to install PPS on a basic 32bit WinSvr2008 Hyper-F VM with IIS
6.0 and .NET Framework 3.5 on a 64bit WinSvr2008 mother OS. The installation
begins, I see the MsiInstaller dialog followed by what appears to be a PPS
Setup dialog which is quickly replace by another that states that the
...."Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your System has not
been modified."...

The system's application log shows a MsiInstaller 11708 event follow by a
1033 event without a whole lot if other detail.

Suggestions...

Chris,

I realize that perhaps this isn't your area of expertise, but are you saying
that a 32bit OS installed in a VM on a 64bit machine isn't really fully
operating as a 32bit OS?

I'm getting the exact same useless error message while trying to install PPS
on a 32-bit 2K8 Standard Edition server. Been wracking my brains and every
online resource i can find for weeks now to try and figure out why.

The dialog box states:
"Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Server 2007 Setup Wizard ended
prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To
install this program again at a later time, run Setup Wizard again."

The application log states:
Event 11708, MsiInstaller
"Product: Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Server 2007 -- Installation
failed."

....followed immediately by:
Event 1033, MsiInstaller
"Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Microsoft Office
Project Portfolio Server 2007. Product Version: 12.0.613.1000. Product
Language: 1033. Installation success or error status: 1603."

Any thoughts or suggestions at all could help.

Thanks,

Sean
