Project Pro. 2003 Error Message

Marilyn

Called Client to let her know that the password was recovered and removed
from the 42 Word documents copied in the folder

Every time I try to open the Visual Basic Editor in Project I get the
following message: "File Not Found." I click Ok on the message and the VB
Editor opens, however, every time I go to open the Editor that message
appears. Another thing is that when I close out of the Editor I get the "MS
Project encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the
Inconvenience."

I tried a Detect and Repair and the same thing happens

Does Project have the equivalent of the "Normal.Dot" so that I could rename
it and let it create a new one? Is there a "regserver" syntax for project?

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,

Marilyn,
I'm not sure what the password and the 42 Word documents have to do with
anything but it almost sounds like it's part of an e-mail that wasn't
supposed to be in this post.

Something is corrupted, but I can't tell if it is a file or Project
itself. Are you using Project 2003 Pro in conjunction with Project
Server or as a standalone installation? If it is part of server, you
might want to post to our sister newsgroup:
microsoft.public.project.server.

If the problem only occurs when you try to open a particular file, then
it may be that the file is corrupted. If it is file corruption, go to
our MVP website at: http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm and take a look
at FAQ 43 - File Bloat? Might be corruption.

If your installation of Project is stand alone and detect and repair
didn't help, you could try re-building the Global file. Use a search to
find the active Project Global. The last part of the path will be:
C:\.....\11\1033. Just trash it, when you open Project a new Global will
be created automatically. Be advised however, that you will lose all
your custom settings including any custom view, tables, filters, etc.
You might want to save those into a separate blank file so you can
restore them later..... but, that might bring back your problem. If
re-building the Global doesn't help, (and my guess is it won't), then
I'd un-install and re-install Project.

Hope this helps.

John,

Thank you for the reply. I'm not trying to open any particular project
file. I'm simply opening the application and then using the Visual Basic
toolbar to open the Visual Basic Editor. We are using project to connect to
a project server.

I will try to trash the global template and see if that solves the issue.

thanks,

As I said, I don't expect a new Global to fix the problem but I guess
it's worth a try. If it does work, great, but if not, try posting to the
server newsgroup. The guys there are much better at dealing with server
issues.
