Project Pro 2003 SP1 cannot access Project Server 2003 SP2a

Is Project Pro 2003 SP2 required to access Project Server 2003 SP2a? The
server is on sp2a but the project pro client is on sp1. I can get into PWA
just fine, but when I try to connect to the server via project pro, I get an
error message - You are not authorized to view this page. You do not have
permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you
supplied.

I'm using windows authentication so it doesn't make sense that I can get
into PWA but not Project Pro. We'll eventually get sp2 but we have to wait
for IT to approve the service pack first which will take a while. I'm
wondering if it could be something else.

Service packs for Project include hotfixes that require updates to Project
Professional AND Project Server. So, yes you do need SP2 for Professional as
you will get various problems when SPs are out of sync and probably no
support from Microsoft until the SPs have been installed correctly.
