project pro 2007 crashes in resource usage view

Hi,

we have a problem with one of our customers. They use project pro with
project server 2007. The project pro client is installed in a citrix
environment. Now, whenever they open a project in Project pro and navigate to
the resource usage view and open the plus sign next to the line 'other
projects', project pro crashes if this row shows a work value (>0).

Rudolf,

I have a similar problem, but not in the Citrix environment. (We do have it
installed in the Citrix environment as well tho) I get this problem only on a
Consolidated or Master project in the locally installed Client of MS Project
2007 Professional. The individual projects work fine without crashing.

I have been searching for a solution to this for several weeks to no avail.

Things I have tried to date:
- increased Local Project cache from 2000 MB to 30000 MB (the total in the
project cache was 21500 MB
- deleted all files in the project cache using the tool in MS Project and
also by following the directions at
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/LocalCacheCorruption.aspx
- broke up the consolidated schedule into smaller files with no more than 20
projects in them

This is both annoying and affecting our ability to manage resources over the
entire portfolio. I was able to get it to work initially and had created a
report showing the projects each resource was working on and whether they
were committed/proposed, overallocated, their skill level and several other
resource centric custom fields, but it stopped working suddenly just when we
were about to use it in our new process.

Any assistance that could be had with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be interested to see an answer to this problem.

A project in our environment experiences a Project 2007 crash when opening
the Resource Usage View for a specific work plan. If I save the same plan
locally, the view opens fine.

Any suggestions/advice would be welcome.

Tks,
Shane

Dylan and Shane:

I'd be curious to know whether saving the project as a different name within
Project Server resolves the problem. Note that doing this disassoicates the
project from timesheet data as all new GUIDs get assigned. If you are not
using timesheets, this might be a workaround. Let me know if this cures the
problem as it may lead me to determining the cause and how to avoid future
problems. Thanks.

Hi to all,

I've been studying an implementation of MS Office Project Server 2007 within
my enterprise. The solution I'm working does not contemplate the use of
timesheets and status reports, and I want it just for planning projects,
communication between the resources assigned, the resources managers and the
projects managers. So, I used a Master Project with all the company's
projects, to allow me to see all the Resource Allocations. I will try also a
macro function to do this :)
The problem is that when I'm in a sub Project, expanding the "other projects
and commitments" in a resource crashes the program. Also, in the Master
Project, if I don't expand previously all the subtasks of the sub Projects,
expanding the same field (other projects and commitments" in the Resource
Usage) also crashes MS Office Project 2007.

Thank you for you attention!
Best Regards
