Project Pro crash when displaying task information

Hi everyone,

One of our clients is experiencing the following problem in one specific
project plan only.

When opening the project plan from Project Server and displaying task
information, Project Professional crashes when the register "advanced" is
selected. This occurs with every task in this specific project plan. The
projects has about 1'000 tasks with many links between them. Furthermore, it
contains cyrillic letters in task notes for nearly half of the tasks.
There are no errors in the event log, neither on the client, nor on the
server.

Does anybody have an idea on how to solve that issue other than copy/paste
all tasks into a new enterprise project? I have already tested that and it
would work, but I'd rather solve this issue properly.

Marc,

It sounds like you have a corrupted file. I dealt with a corrupted file
once. The cure that was given to me was to export it (Save As) an XML file.
Then import the file into Server as a new project. This is probably
preferable to the Copy/Paste, as it should contain all data.

I seem to be having the same issues..if I was to do an export as you mention
below Wiley would I lose actuals that have already been entered against tasks
within this schedule?

Yes it does. That is why it is preferable to Copy/Paste. It should save
all information within the file. I should add one more step. When you
import into Project Server, open the XML file first. Then import. I hope I
am not forgettign anythign. It has been a long time since I did this.

If you have a test instance of Project Server set up, try it first on there
if you are uncomfortable with the process.
