Project Question - Time Entry

K

We are having problems with people entering Time into tasks that are
completed in the project.

Is there a way to change a task so people can not longer log time against it?

Thanks so much for your help!

We have the same problem. If people stay on their "current tasks" view, they
will not see the task. Unfortunately, if they go to "all tasks", they can put
more time against it. Also, if an assignment has 0 actual and 0 remaining
hours, it stays on their "current tasks" view (for these, I usually remove
the assignment completely since no work was done).

If the entire project is complete, you can change the booking type of all
resources to "Proposed" and re-publish the assignments. The problem with this
is, that they will loose all visibility to past time periods when in "all
tasks".

To my knowledge, there is no way to "lock-out" time entry at the task or
project level. We have requested this feature to Microsoft on future
releases.

Hope this helps ..

Hi Kevin,

Please do the following:

Open the project plan and choose the Booking Value as Proposed for all
the Resources working in that project ( Tools -> Build Team for
Enterprise)

Collaborate -> Publish -> All information

It prevents the time-reporters from entering the actuals in timesheet.
(i.e it removes all the tasks for that project from time-reporter's
timesheet)

Thanks
Chak
